General
Q: What advantages does the 1000-DR Digital Conversion Package have over other digital systems?
There are quite a few advantages. The 1000-DR works with your existing PC-1000 machine to provide state-of-the-art digital panoramic x-ray capabilities. Since there’s no new machine required, your monetary investment is significantly reduced. Plus, since you and your staff are already familiar with the machine, the learning curve is also dramatically reduced.
The 1000-DR digital sensor features state-of-the art Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) technology, which converts your x-ray directly to an electronic signal, yielding a very sharp and detailed image. In fact, CdTe can provide images with up to 300% more clarity and contrast than conventional digital systems that first must convert the x-ray to light. Compare images. Compare image capture technologies.

Q: Should I convert to digital panoramic radiography?
That depends upon your particular needs. Clearly, a majority of offices are still utilizing film for their diagnostics. However, more and more practices are converting to digital for these reasons and more:
• To eliminate the time and trouble of film processing and the storage of chemicals.
• To free up revenue-generating space in place of housing a darkroom and storing films.
• To speed up insurance reimbursements by submitting claims electronically.
• To enhance the customer experience through immediate consultation and state-of-the-art capabilities.
• To facilitate integration of panoramic images into patients’ electronic records.

Q: How does the 1000-DR Digital Conversion Package promote a better patient experience?
Since the 1000-DR delivers x-ray images to your computer monitor nearly instantaneously, you can immediately consult with your patients about their x-rays and reduce their overall waiting time. Plus, the 1000-DR proprietary software features tools that help highlight the oral cavity to help you better demonstrate conditions to your patients. And finally, your patients may be “wowed” by the advanced technology.

Q: How does the 1000-DR image quality compare with film? Film has long been the standard for diagnostics. There are differences in opinions on the quality of digital vs. film images. Digital images do allow you to make certain image adjustments and refinements. The 1000-DR captures images with enhanced detail and reduced spinal column shadows and it allows you to move in and out of depths to create the optimal image for diagnostics. Additionally, digital images are not dependent on the highly-sensitive nature of chemical film processing.

Software
Q: What type of image adjustments can I make using the proprietary software?
Many practitioners find that the image capture from the CdTe sensor is more than adequate for diagnostic purposes without making any image adjustments. However, if adjustments are desired, the 1000-DR proprietary software allows you to apply a filter to compensate/correct for the spinal column shadow, sharpen, de-noise, magnify, adjust contrast and select the optimal depth of data via the auto focus feature.

Q: Will the software integrate with my existing practice management software?
The proprietary software included with the 1000-DR Package contains a TWAIN driver, which allows it to directly integrate with all major practice management software. If your existing practice management software will allow you to import a digital photo from your digital camera or a flat bed scanner, the 1000-DR software will integrate in the same way.

Q: Can I export images to my existing image adjustment software?
Yes, the 1000-DR proprietary software will integrate into your existing imaging software, which allows you to view the images throughout your office. Plus, you can make your image adjustments in the software you’re already familiar with, should you choose to.

Training
Q: What new machine functions and patient procedures will my staff have to learn?
The PC-1000 functions the same way as before. The same patient setup and exposure procedures are utilized. There are no new patient procedures or machine functions to master. Once the image is taken, you will be able to “optimize” your image and export to your existing imaging software with just a few clicks of the mouse.
